So meteorologically spring has sprung, but in reality I think March is always such an in-between month, I usually cannot wait until the weather actually gets better. That however didn’t stop me from doing some shopping for the new season already. I got myself two really pretty dresses for example, typical items that you might expect to be not wearable yet due to the weather still being too cold. But, where there’s a will, there is a way.
As always the key is l-a-y-e-r-i-n-g.
I’m talking dress over trousers! One of my favourite layering methods and it works every time. New to the scene? Below I’m sharing some tips & tricks:
Make sure your trousers are smooth
Meaning: not too many loop belts and no exaggerated pockets. You don’t want those to be visible through your dress, that would be a mess (10 points for rhyming!)
Leggings are your friend
Not your enemy. Make sure to pick the right pair though, like stirrups for example. Whatever you choose, I would suggest steering away from the white, slightly see-through ones.
Create a contrast
Opt for a cute, girly dress mixed with a pair of leather trousers underneath for a killer contrast.
Loosen up
Feel free to go for a loose pair of trousers with an equally loose dress on top. This one might be a bit tricky, but once mastered you’re gonna want to wear nothing else anymore. Add a pair of heels to balance things out.
I’m curious, would you wear a dress layered over your trousers? Let me know in the comments below!

Ik vind het een moeilijke trend om zelf te dragen, maar bij anderen vind ik het vaak heel mooi!
Snap ik! Hopelijk helpen deze tips je een beetje op weg 🙂 x
I have a pair of black ponte pants that I’ve worn twice now under dresses, but this spring I plan to try wearing a pair of skinny jeans under a flowy dress! Hope it turns out. 🙂
I bet it will, sounds nice! 🙂 x
Wauw!!! heel mooi ❁
I wear a dress over trousers only if the trousers are slim fit and the dress has splits in the sides. That’s the most flattering, especially on someone as short as I am
