I know, we’re currently right in the middle of winter but secretly I am starting to dream of those spring days. Which has nothing to do with winter itself really. To be honest I quite like those cold, icy days. Still, there’s something so exciting about discovering what’s new for the upcoming season, don’t you think? Below I’ve ensembled a couple of trends that will no doubt grab their moment this spring:
Get ready for eighties influences, bathrobes as streetwear and a fresh new colour palette.
One of my favourites this season (as was only to be expected – stripes!) definitely is the so-called ‘seaside stripe’. Think beach umbrellas, retro bathing suits and beach chairs and mould them together into one colourful, striped outfit.
The season’s hottest colour that’s already cropping up everywhere right now is pink. From soft pastels to deep cherry, pink is the perfect colour to start adding some spring vibes to your winter wardrobe.
As one of my style resolutions this year is to wear more jewelry (more on that later), I couldn’t be happier to see statement earrings appearing everywhere. Even though I am kinda new to adding bling to my outfit, I’m glad I’ve suddenly got so many choices.
Yes, the trenchcoat is back (was it ever gone?) and they’re better than ever. As fashion is all about reinterpretation and reinventing classics, this particular coat got a bit of a facelift. It’s oversized, bold and often has some unexpected twist, like an asymmetrical hem or oversized shoulders.
Last year it was all about showing off some shoulder-cleavage, this season there’s a new feminine style ready to take over: the cinched waist. May it be by wearing a waist belt or even a corset: the waist is the centre of attention.
Sleeves, trousers, skirts, you name it: everything’s got a slit. They can be as high as possible or very subtle, almost no hemline stays free of it.
The re-invented white shirt
Who doesn’t love a good white shirt that can be worn multiple ways? Shirts are going to be everywhere, with a special place for deconstructed and re-invented pieces.
Robes & Kimonos
Yasss! After pajama like co-ords there’s a new style that found its way from the bedroom to the streets: the robe. Throw it over a pair of jeans and you’ll look effortlessly chic.
Shoulder pads, oversized ruffles, square and rounded shoulders: the end of the off-shoulder trend couldn’t have been marked any clearer. It’s now all about covering those shoulders up in oversized fabric.
Leave those killer heels in the back of your closet and opt for a pair of lower heeled shoes instead. Kitten heels are hot!
I’m very curious what you think of these trends! Which one of the above is your fave? Are there any you are going to wear yourself? Let’s chat about it in the comments!
